Figs

The fig is the spring fruit produced by the fig tree. There are two kind of figs, one is bigger (the one we will be talking about) and the other one is sweeter. It is shaped like a pear and have different colours, depending of the variety. It can be yellowish-green, blueish or blackish.

Properties

This fruit possess a high content in water and carbohydrates in form of glucose, fructose and sucrose, so its value in calories is very high. It also is rich in fiber (2.5g for every 100g), minerals like potasium (235mg for every 100g), magnesium (20mg for every 100g), calcium (38mg for every 100g) and C vitamin and A provitamin with antioxidant properties.

In some places of South America this fruit is accompanied by milk caramel and cheese.
